Veena Bassi

Family Law Associate Lawyer

Veena is a dedicated advocate and client-focused lawyer at Anthony Family Law. She helps clients through family law concerns such as prenuptial arrangements, separation agreements, complex and high-conflict divorce and parenting litigation, with specialised knowledge in real estate and asset disputes.

A fierce adventurer by nature, Veena goes to the ends of the earth for her clients. She is tenacious in court and negotiations, clearly understanding her clients’ concerns and challenges and handling them with empathy.

Through her international experiences, Veena possesses a unique understanding of cultural, social, and family dynamics. Originally from Vancouver, Veena has studied at leading schools in both Paris, France, and the UK, where she pursued her law degree at the University of Edinburgh. This has allowed her to understand how culture influences expectations of family and decision-making and that these may conflict with the Canadian justice system. This knowledge helps her foster relationships of trust as she works to reach her clients’ goals.

Veena leads with compassion, educating clients on the process of family law litigation and providing them with strength in what is often an incredibly difficult part of their lives. Committed to giving back to the community, Veena has provided legal services to remote communities in Panama as part of Medical Aid International Society and interned for a non–profit climate change organization in New York City. 

Outside of the law, Veena enjoys continuing her travels and exploring galleries and museums. She can also be found in the morning spin class, biking around Toronto on a sunny day.
